Broke People is NYU’s premiere theatre festival for student-written works. It was founded with one purpose: to help playwrights see their work lift off the page. Since then, we've grown into a space for all theatre artists: playwrights, directors, actors, dramaturgs, and designers. We focus on creating a safe environment for student artists to experiment and try new things, to learn the beauty of collaboration and the art of making a play. Through our development process, we bring together artists to create new and exciting works. We aim to create a space where every artist has a voice and where every story has a stage.
Sofi served as Broke People’s Director of Wellbeing for the 2022-2023 season, and Artistic Director for the 2023-2024 season.
